It all started with cleaning up an old 2005 supercharged Scion TC.....
I have been detailing cars for many years and used every type of product (rubbing compound, cleaner waxes, waxes, silicons, polymers, and every combination thereof) to protect and bring out the shine of cars. If the car had non clear coat paint, you would see the car's color appear on your towels or pads. Scratches always required more paint removal until the paint became so thin and brittle, you either let the car rust, repaint it, or sold the car. The only difference with clear coats is that if you became too aggressive with either your hand or buffing wheel, you could grind away the clear coat exposing the paint below. This is what happened to my white Scion TC.
Because I was busy at work, and wanted to save some time, I decided to let a body shop "buff out" the car before I would apply a polymer to protect the finish. The car looked great, except the body shop had ground down small sections of the clear coat exposing the color underneath. The body shop painted the sections, but it showed me how thin the clear coat was on some of the older cars. So it was time to try something new. And I'm always looking for the latest and greatest technology. Maybe ceramic, graphene, diamonds?
I researched many of the products in my local auto stores and the internet. I looked at many of the old favorites, but many of these products now included ceramic protection. Seems to be the new thing. Everyone is either selling ceramic detail sprays or ceramic solutions in small containers to be applied with a small pad. You still had to do some type of paint correction. If you had scratches or swirls in the clear coat, you had to grind down your finish with finer and finer sanding paper (or rubbing compounds) until the sanding scratches become unnoticeable. Nothing wrong with that except the Scion couldn't take any more grinding. But what if you could fill the scratches instead of grinding down my car's finish. The Scion's paint did not have a thick clear coat, unlike many of the newer cars. This is when I started to investigate another solution. To make things worse, Ithe Scion had a carbon fiber hood from a very well known manufacturer whose clear coat had turned white from being exposed to the elements. Their recommendation was to sand down the hood with 2000 grit sandpaper. Hmm. Really?! Time to take a different approach. I needed something to bring back the hood and the rest of the car.
I then came across one of the car forums which mentioned a product called GLARE®. People loved ot and were using it for cars, planes, boats, and everything else. So what was GLARE®? So I decided to call them. I talked with Ken (who I found out later was the son of the chemist who created GLARE® polish) regarding the bad condition of the paint and I believed it was time to repaint the car. After he explained the chemistry of GLARE® and the active chemical (Glassplexin® ), he took me through every one of the GLARE® products and their application. So I decided to purchase the GLARE® GRAND PRIX PROTECTION KIT. I washed the car with Dawn® Dish Soap. I attacked the oxidized carbon fiber hood with KNOCK OUT®, a yellow pad, and some very bright lights. I knew the clear coat was thicker than the rest of the car. So as I worked the material with a DA buffer and as was aggressive at first and then backed off. Sure enough, the oxidation started to disappear! So now it was time to use KNOCK OUT® on the rest of the car. Time to call Ken to get any application tips. I had several very deep scratches. Realistically, I knew that scratches that deep could not be eliminated without grinding down the finish. So what would the KNOCK OUT® do with the deep scratches. As I watched, the deep scratches started to turn clear and faded. If this was the first step, what would happen when I applied GLARE® SPIDER, GLARE® MICRO-FINISH™ and finally GLARE® + PROFESSIONAL POLISH. So I applied the other products. Ken told me if I wanted the ultimate protection, don't skip any of the products and as these products build on each and the result will be an outstanding shine. Was he right! The carbon fiber hood was now really starting to shine. The white paint had a shine and hardness that I never saw before. So I called GLARE® manufacturing to better understand the chemistry. I was connected to Perry Stevens, who was the President of Domestic and International Sales and a chemist of the GLARE® team. As we talked, I started to better understand the chemistry of the products and how GLARE® was being used for cars, trucks, vans, boats, aircraft, and all types of home uses. After many conversations with Perry and seeing the results on my old car, I shared my story with my friends. They also saw the same incredible results! After that, I decided to sell this amazing product here in Illinois.
GLARE® will give your car, van, truck, boat, plane, or anything else, a brilliant shine and protection well beyond the other technologies! They definitely picked the right name for these products!
